Meyers Leonard, a seven-foot forward/center, plays in the NBA for Miami Heat. He was born to Tracie Leonard and James Leonard in Woodbridge (Virginia) on February 27, 1992. Leonard was the 11th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Leonard attended Robinson High School, where he quickly grew taller. After initially being a guard on his high school team, he switched to center. Robinson, a native Virginian, won the IHSA Class 2A state championship. He gained a huge reputation.
Leonard signed up to play college basketball at the University of Illinois and spent two years on the Fighting Illini Men’s Basket Basketball Team. As a freshman, he only played one game but was offered a spot on the team the following year.

Meyers Leonard was the 12th overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft. His reputation at university and high school earned him a lottery pick, and his rookie season started on a positive note.
Leonard’s popularity began to fade after his second season in the league. His numbers also didn’t show a positive point. He was part of the Blazers team which underwent major transformations over the past decade.
Meyers Leonard had a breakout season in 2015/16, averaging 8.4 PPG & 5.1 RPG. The Blazers secured the fifth spot in Western Conference and qualified for the playoffs.
